Meet the Team

Jean Ashland, Ph.D.Jean Ashland, PhD. CCC-SLP: Dr. Ashland is a speech language pathologist and pediatric feeding and swallowing specialist. Before joining the Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Center of Maine she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

At MGH, Dr. Ashland was an integral member of the pediatric team for inpatient and outpatient services in the Department of Speech, Language and Swallowing Disorders. She participated in interdisciplinary clinics including: The Pediatric Feeding/Swallowing Feeding Team, Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Team, Pediatric Airway, Voice and Swallowing Center and Newborn Follow-Up Clinic.


Dr. Ashland has published more than twenty articles and book chapters on topics including cleft lip and palate, pediatric swallowing, treatment of velopharyngeal insufficiency and treatment of swallowing disorders in the neonatal intensive care unit. She has taught about pediatric feeding, swallowing and cleft lip/palate at Boston University, Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Harvard University and The Harvard School of Dentistry.

She made numerous national and international presentations to profession medical groups about pediatric feeding/swallowing and airway problems.


Moriah Grant

Moriah Grant, OTD, OTR/L: Dr. Grant is an Occupational Therapist and pediatric feeding and swallowing specialist bringing to the team her own personal experiences having a child with a feeding and swallowing disorder.


Dr. Grant has a clinical doctorate in Pediatric Science with a focus on neonatology and early intervention. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings  in Maine and Massachusetts.


Joseph Anderson, M.D. Joseph Anderson, MD: Dr. Anderson is a Board-Certified Pediatrician and was voted the "Best of the Best" Pediatrician in Waldo County.


Dr. Anderson provides essential medical coordination to the feeding and swallowing team. He works closely with a child's local physician to assure information is shared promptly and accurately for the most coordinated, comprehensive care. 


Carrying on a tradition of medical education in his practice, Dr. Anderson has been appointed a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics for the Massachusetts College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy and joined the faculty of Dartmouth School of Medicine. Hannah Holland, M.A., CCC-SLP

Hannah Holland, M.A., CCC-SLP: Hannah is a Speech Language Pathologist and the feeding and swallowing team intake coordinator. Hannah has worked in many different settings including schools, homes and early intervention programs. Hannah has a special interest in working closely with families. She has worked as an early intervention specialist, working with families of children with feeding and swallowing disorders right in their homes.

Hannah has completed trainings on coaching, sensory integration approaches to speech therapy and the Hanen Parent Training Program. Hannah is certified to provide speech therapy telepractice, providing video based treatment right in children's homes, schools and care settings.


Marcia Kyle

Marcia Kyle, RDN, LD, CDE, FAND: Marci is a dietician and Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND). She is nationally known for her significant and sustained contributions to the field of nutrition and dietetics by establishing herself as role model in the field.


In cases involving complex nutritional needs, Marci works with families to meet their children's specialized nutritional needs. She collaborates with the child's physician and medical care team to provide expert, evidence-based nutritional care for infants, children and adolescents.
